1. Who we are
Orbit2Orbit ("we", "us") operates the Launch a Legend campaign at legends.orbit2orbit.space. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site.
2. What we collect
- Nominator data: your email address and the nomination text you submit.
- Teacher data: the nominee's name, school and email, supplied by the nominator. If the teacher consents: photo, bio and a quote they provide.
- Voter data: we do not store voter email addresses. When you vote, your email is used once to send the verification link and is then discarded — we only retain a one-way encrypted signature (a salted hash) so we can detect duplicate votes. Because the original email is not kept and the signature is not reversible, we cannot contact voters or recover their address from our records.
- Technical data: minimal logs (timestamps, error traces) needed to keep the service running and prevent abuse.
3. How we use it
To contact nominated teachers for consent, to verify votes via email, to display consented teachers publicly on the leaderboard, to award and ship prizes, and to investigate fraud or abuse.
4. Lawful basis
We rely on legitimate interest to contact nominated teachers once, and on consent for any subsequent public display or marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We use trusted processors (hosting, email delivery, database) bound by contract. Public leaderboard data is, by definition, public.
6. Retention
Nomination and vote records are kept for the duration of the campaign plus 12 months for audit. Declined or withdrawn records are anonymised on request.
7. Your rights
You can request access, correction, deletion, or export of your personal data, or object to processing, by emailing stem@orbit2orbit.space. You can unsubscribe from any campaign email using the link in the footer.
8. Children
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
